Jamie Stern Furniture Design Contest 2025

We are excited to announce the 3rd Annual Jamie Stern Furniture Design Contest!

From March 17th to April 30th, we are calling on all interior designers to submit an original fully upholstered lounge chair design for the chance to win a prototype of your design. The submission can be a CAD drawing, a 3-D rendering or even a simple pencil sketch with dimensions called out.

Maybe you want to create a wholly new style of lounge chair? Or perhaps you want to update a timeless classic? Will your chair design be highly personal or will it have universal appeal? Do you envision many details and ornate construction or an elegant and understated piece? Have you always preferred a firm cushion or a plush seat? Whatever your fully upholstered dream lounge chair looks like, that’s what we want to see!

Silvia Castañeda

With 17 years of experience in hospitality design, Silvia is an Associate and senior designer at Rockwell Group Los Angeles Studio. Her work is inspired by innovation and emerging trends, shaping spaces that blend sophistication with functionality. Having contributed to multiple high-profile projects, she brings a refined aesthetic and strategic vision to every design. Silvia holds a degree from FIDM in interior design as well as a degree in interior architecture from Woodbury University.

Two Grand Prize Winners will receive a prototype of their design!

ELIGIBILITY

Open to interior design professionals within the United States and Canada.

PROJECT

Design a Fully Upholstered Lounge Piece that is appropriate for hospitality, corporate or residential environments.

DESIGN REQUIREMENTS/RULES

One entry per person
Only original designs may be submitted
Designs can be created in any medium
Appropriate for indoor use
Up to 15% metal detail
Up to 25% exposed wood
Submissions must include the following:

Standard Drafted Views – Front/Back Elevations, Plan and Side Views.
Views must include dimensions in inches.
Present all information in a single PDF file format. Max file size 100MB.
Only designs submitted through the form provided at the bottom of this page will be accepted.
A short written statement describing the design intent and any aspects that make this design special

WINNERS/PRIZES

2 Grand Prize Winners

A Grand Prize Winner will be selected from both an Eastern region and a Western region.
Both Grand Prize Winners will receive a fully upholstered, finished prototype of their design.

The winning designs may be included in Jamie Stern's current furniture line and receive royalties.

JUDGING

The 2 Grand Prize Winners will be selected by our panel of guest judges from the interior design community.

DEADLINE

Submissions will be accepted until midnight on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Entrants warrant that their submissions are their own original work and do not infringe on the work of any third party.
Jamie Stern Furniture, Carpet & Leather reserves the right to use winning entries for promotion or display. All designs will always be credited with creator's name for the life of the design when used for promotional purposes.
