Don’t Be Sheepish! Design the Rug of Your Dreams During the 5^th Annual Jamie Stern Rug Design Contest!

You don’t have to count sheep to dream up your ideal rug! From September 4th to October 6th, we are calling on all interior designers to submit an original design for the chance to win a custom wool rug.

Jamie Stern is excited to announce the 5^th edition of our ever-growing national Rug Design Contest. For four years running, our month-long competition has garnered more designer submissions than each previous year. With this annual increase in the number of designs also came a greater expansion of styles, inspirations and influences. We received incredible entries that featured ornate geometric tessellations, abstract figures, simple and elegant patterns, fierce animal prints, designs with personal meaning behind them and so much more. These designs were created in Photoshop, painted with watercolors, sketched with a pencil, done in charcoal, etc. However you choose to express your creativity is what we want to see!

For the 5th Annual Jamie Stern Rug Design Contest, a Grand Prize Winner from each of our four regions – Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and West – will be selected by an all-new panel of esteemed judges from the interior design community. These Winners will have their designs brought to life as beautiful area rugs made of 100% New Zealand wool! Additionally, two runners-up from each region will be selected and receive a 3x5 mini-rug of their design.

RULES & REGULATIONS

ELIGIBILITY

Open to interior design professionals within the United States and Canada. Entries that do not fit this criteria will not be entered into judging.

DESIGN REQUIREMENTS/RULES

Designs can be created in any medium and uploaded for submission
Only designs that are submitted through the form provided at the bottom of this page will be accepted
Acceptable file formats include PDF and JPG. Max file size 100MB
All colors MUST be chosen from the Jamie Stern digital pom box and the color numbers must be indicated on the design
Rug scale: 5’x7’
Construction: Hand-Tufted
Material: New Zealand wool and can include up to 20% bamboo silk
One entry per person

REGIONS

Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, West

4 GRAND PRIZE WINNERS (1 from each region)

The Grand Prize Winner from each region will receive a 5'x7’ rug of their winning design.
Winners will have the option to be included in Jamie Stern's current carpet line and receive royalties.

2 RUNNERS-UP FROM EACH REGION (for a total of 8)

These runners-up will each receive a rendering and a 3'x5' mini rug.

JUDGING

The 4 Grand Prize Winners and 8 Regional Runners-up will be selected by our third party panel of guest judges.

DEADLINE

Submissions will be accepted until midnight on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Entrants warrant that their submissions are their own original work and do not infringe on the work of any third party.
Jamie Stern Furniture, Carpet & Leather reserves the right to use winning entries for promotion or display. All designs will always be credited with creator's name for the life of the pattern when used for promotional purposes.
